Now that more than 50% of the world’s seafood consumption comes from aquaculture, there has been an increase in awareness, interest, and scrutiny of the fish farming industry. It’s human nature to want to know where your food comes from, so a little bit of extra attention on a topic you’re unsure about is certainly understandable. 

The US has nearly 4 million acres of salt marshes, with the large majority of them being concentrated in the southeastern states. Florida is home to a massive interconnected stretch that spans about 1 million acres all the way up to North Carolina. So, the question is: what makes them so valuable?

The tradition of catching a fish, preparing it, and sharing a meal with loved ones is something we cherish here at Timoti’s Seafood Shak. We think the best fish to do this with are the redfish, flounder, and trout.

When done correctly, aquaculture makes the seafood industry safer and more sustainable for both us and our planet.
