Get your green on – this year, The Player’s Championship is heading to Sawgrass just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. For years the popular Ponte Vedra event has taken place on Mother’s Day weekend, attracting thousands of attendees dressed in pink to support breast cancer awareness. This year, it is turning a slightly darker hue to the shores of the Emerald coast.

Golf fans will expect to see favorites like Roy McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler and maybe even Tiger Woods tackle the challenging 17th island hole. Onlookers will grab hillside seats or walk alongside their golf idols while enjoying the cooler March temperatures. This will be the 38th Edition held at the stadium course, with a winning purse of $12,500,000. Webb Simpson won the tournament in 2018 on a 7,189 yard course.

Over 200,000 people flock to Jacksonville for the 4-day event, making this one of the largest events in Northeast Florida. According to THE PLAYERS Championship Executive Director Jared Rice , 55 percent of attendance came from outside of Jacksonville’s five-county area in 2017, and was televised to over 2 billion households across 226 countries and territories outside the United States, in 30 languages.
