Spring Events in Jacksonville

The Garden Club of Jacksonville, strives to help members of the Jacksonville community connect to preserve green spaces throughout the city. The Garden Club dates back to the spring of 1922, when Ninah May Holden Cummer gathered a group of friends to start an organization that would celebrate the creation of a more beautiful Jacksonville. The club’s founding members never expected the club to grow into the organization it is today, but within a few months of its founding more than 100 women were interested in joining. The Garden Club played a huge role in preserving Jacksonville’s ancient live oak trees, and even helped rescue the Treaty Oak landmark

Today, the Garden Club of Jacksonville offers a variety of memberships and hosts fun events that can be attended with the purchase of a ticket or membership. Three of these events are going on this March, including Combined Circles: Flower Power, Fun with Flowers: Gorgeous Greens, and Budding Gardeners: Herb Life.

Combined Circles: Flower Power

Combined Circles: Flower Power will take place on March 8th, starting at 10:00 am. Event host, Wildflower Garden Circle President Jan Sillik, will demonstrate some of the intricate flower designs you may have seen on hubcaps, auto parts, and electrical conduits throughout the city. This event will take place in person at the Garden Club, while simultaneously taking place on Zoom for anyone who wishes to attend virtually. The event is free for Garden Club members and $5 for a ticket for nonmembers.

Fun with Flowers: Gorgeous Greens

Taking place on March 10th at 6:30 pm, Fun with Flowers: Gorgeous Greens featuring host Bonnie Melin of Ruby Reds Floral & Garden, will teach guests how to create lush flower arrangements. Melin will provide step-by-step instructions to create the arrangement, as well as provide the flowers needed to create your own. Fun with Flowers is an educational outreach program that welcomes any member of the public. This in-person event will practice COVID-safety precautions. If you’re looking to attend, tickets can be purchased here at $30 for Garden Club members and $40 for nonmembers.

Budding Gardeners: Herb Life
