Our Favorite Canned Cocktails

Seltzers, Spiked Drinks and More

Everyone knows that when you visit Timoti’s Seafood Shak you’re going to get a good meal. Whether you order your go-to fried shrimp basket or mix things up with a refreshing poké bowl, you’re guaranteed a delicious meal of wild-caught seafood. But no meal is complete without a tasty beverage to wash down your made-to-order crab burger, lobster roll, or T’s Wrap. Our friends in Nocatee have access to a full bar featuring classic cocktails, like a Tequila Sunrise, Old-Fashioned or Mojito, and rotating seasonal libations.

Fernandina Beach may be lacking a full bar, but there are plenty of other choices for the discerning diner. While we love our local and small batch brews, we’re reaching for a spiked seltzer for maximum refreshment.

Thanks to the current hard seltzer craze, there are plenty of options when you’re looking to try a canned cocktail. So, instead of buying a variety pack at the store, give ‘em a try next time you’re over for lunch. To get started, check out a few of our favorite canned cocktails, available at Timoti’s Seafood Shak, Duck Pinz and MacGregor’s Mini Links.

Long Drink

We promised ourselves we wouldn’t play favorites in this blog and we’re already going back on that plan.

If you haven’t ever tried Long Drink before, do yourself a favor and try it ASAP. This classic alcoholic beverage from Finland has been enjoyed for centuries and now—thanks to modern technology—it’s available in a can that fits in your hand. It’s hard to describe the specific taste of Long Drink, but it’s similar to a gin and tonic with a hint of juniper and grapefruit.

Long Drink is a regular sponsor of the monthly mini golf tournaments at Gregor MacGregor’s (first Wednesday of every month from September to March). Co-owners Rickie Fowler and Miles Teller have yet to make a personal appearance at a tournament, but in all honesty that’s probably for the best—we want to keep the playing field fair.

There are four tasty flavors to try: Original (Blue Can), Zero Sugar (White Can), Cranberry (Red Can) and Strong (Black Can).

Too Turnt Tea

You might know Anthony Dawson by his social media handle TooTurntTony, but we know this outrageously rad dude as the co-owner of Too Turnt Tea made by NOCA Beverages

There’s no carbonation in these bad boys, just delicious spiked lemon tea. Think of it as John Daly’s take on AriZona Iced tea. We do want to caution you that these teas taste unbelievably good—remember to drink responsibly!

Caddy Clubhouse Cocktails

The last canned cocktail we’re going to share today is the goodness delivered by Caddy Cocktails. There are two varieties, Half & Half and Transfusion. You’ll find the ready-to-drink Transfusion over at MacGregor’s Mini Links, right where it belongs: on the golf course.

The exact origins of the Transfusion are a bit unclear, but this refreshing cocktail has been called “golf’s greatest drink.” It’s a cinch to whip up, just mix vodka, ginger ale, grape juice and lime juice.

However, we thought four steps was about three too many. The good folks at Caddy Cocktails clearly felt the same way, because they’ve taken all the hard work out and delivered a stylish portable version of the classic course cocktail.

Honorable Mention: Liquid Death

While not a cocktail, we had to mention Liquid Death. What is Liquid Death, you ask?

An energy drink with more caffeine than six cups of coffee?

A potent potable from the jungles of Africa?

A soda with more sugar than an entire bag of Halloween candy?

Nope, Liquid Death is sparkling water in a super cool can. Never underestimate the importance of staying hydrated—especially on toasty Florida days.
