Best Desserts in Fernandina Beach

Your Sweet Tooth is Calling

For the charming Florida town of Fernandina Beach, our desserts are not just an afterthought; they’re a crowning glory to a fantastic meal—or a fantastic meal on their own.

From classic Key Lime Pie to ice cream cones stacked as high as the Amelia Island Lighthouse to innovative creations that tantalize your taste buds, we’re here to guide you through the best sweet treats Fernandina Beach has to offer. So, grab a spoon and get ready to indulge in some irresistible dessert magic.

Ice Box Cups at Timoti’s Seafood Shak

Yes, we put ourselves at the top of the list, but try one bite of our signature Ice Box Cups and we think we’ll be forgiven. This tasty treat is cool, light, and has just a little crunch from the cookie topping.

You’ll find Key Lime and Cookies and Cream year-round, with seasonal flavors sprinkled in from time to time!

Ice Cream, Lots of Ice Cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

As a popular summer vacation destination, it should come as no surprise that there are more than enough ice cream shops to keep your cone full all year long. (And hey, with winter temps sometimes in the 70’s, you might want ice cream in February.)

It’s impossible to pick just one, so we’ll leave you with a couple of our favorites—and apologies to any that we missed!

The bright yellow and blue of DeNucci’s drive-thru ice cream stand signal you’re about to be in for a serious treat. From seasonal specials to menu staples, all of the ice cream at this family-owned business is sourced from the Sunshine State.

Another local favorite is Island Time Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt. Located on Centre Street, there’s no beating this location. Grab a cone—topped with gummy bears, of course—and enjoy while strolling down to the water.

Homemade Desserts at Cafe Karibo

Yes, they’re our neighbors, but we have to give a shoutout to Café Karibo and their unbelievably delicious homemade desserts.

All of the cakes and pies at this Amelia Island staple are handmade by owner Teresa Poynter. The desserts rotate daily and last as long as it takes to sell eight slices, which trust us, is not very long. You never know what will be on offer, but favorites like Caramel Cake, Strawberry Cake and Chocolate Pecan Pie are often in the mix.

Nana Theresa’s Bake Shop

Not to be confused with the other Teresa, our neighbor in the other direction, Nana Theresa’s Bake Shop is a culinary star in her own right.

Stop by first thing in the morning for their heavenly croissants or to grab your dog a pupcake on their morning walk. If you’re not an early riser, make a pit stop in the afternoon at their authentic 1950’s Soda Fountain and order up an Egg Cream or Banana Split—it will feel like your taste buds just traveled back in time.

Fantastic Fudge

“Satisfying your sweet tooth” for the last 35 years, Fantastic Fudge cuts out all the nonsense, and by nonsense we mean anything that isn’t made with sugar and absolutely delicious.

Of course, fudge takes center stage here, but you can supplement your order with chocolates, pralines, caramel corn, and—yes—even ice cream. They also fulfill bulk orders, which can fill the perfect goodie bag for your wedding or reunion.

Breakable Hearts

Speaking of weddings, there’s no match for Breakable Hearts. Now, this wedding baker is a bit harder to get a hold of than the ice cream shops in downtown Fernandina, but believe us when we say it is so worth it.

You’ll need to place a bulk order to get a taste of their delectable cakes, cookies, macarons, and dessert shooters. The good news is, the only broken heart you’ll find is ours when we finish the last slice of cake.

Hungry? Us Too!

All this dessert talk has fueled up a mighty appetite. Start your gastronomical adventure at Timoti’s Seafood Shak, then make your way up and down 3rd and Centre Street to try all of these incredible desserts!
