Make Plans for the Biggest Night of the Year

What are you doing on New Year’s Eve?

Well, if you don’t have an answer to that question, we’re here to help you fill out your dance card! From football games to black tie galas, New Year’s Eve in Jacksonville is sure to provide plenty of fireworks.

Fernandina Beach Shrimp Drop and Fireworks

Regular readers of the blog know that we love shrimp. Some may say that our affinity for the shellfish may border on extreme, but, hey, can you blame us? Low in calories and high in protein, shrimp are the perfect topping for tacos, po’boys, wraps and more.

But that’s not all they’re good for—shrimp might just be the perfect way to ring in the New Year. Join all of us shrimp lovin’ crazies for the annual Shrimp Drop in downtown Fernandina Beach.

With the festivities happening at 7PM, this is the perfect choice for young families—or those who just want to go to bed early.

Bonus Tip: double up on your fireworks with the Shrimp Drop, then heading downtown for Jacksonville’s fireworks display at midnight.

TaxSlayer Gator Bowl

Are you ready for some football?

You better be, because Clemson is taking on Kentucky in the 79th Annual TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. Not only is the Gator Bowl the sixth oldest bowl game in college football (played every year since 1946), it is the first bowl game to be nationally televised.

Sure, you can catch the action on ESPN, but why not kick off the holiday weekend by seeing it in person? Stick around EverBank Stadium through Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars welcome the Carolina Panthers.
