Meet David, The Local Artist Behind Karibo’s Eclectic Artwork

Five Points wouldn’t be the hip neighborhood it is without its 1920’s architecture and diverse eateries, including Karibo 5 Points (if we may say so ourselves!) And Karibo 5 Points wouldn’t fully embody its eclectic and creative feel without its new mural and mosaic art created by David Nackashi, a local Jacksonville artist.

Mesmerizing Mosaic & Mural Art to Express Our Vision

Given David’s impressive artwork portfolio, we were thrilled when he created a vibrant mosaic outside Karibo 5 points featuring multicolored pieces of glass in the restaurant’s signature hues including purple, white, black, green and yellow. As you can see, the mosaic’s diverse elements blend to form a memorable composition that exquisitely highlights our eatery’s eclectic ambience.

We (and our customers) loved David’s mosaic so much, we just knew we needed to highlight more of his artwork. Most recently, David created a stunning mural - this time inside the restaurant. The new artwork, inspired by the mosaic, features not only our characteristic colors but our whimsical brand logo as well.

We especially appreciate how the mosaic and mural work together to encapsulate Karibo 5 Points’ healthful, fresh and creative menu which includes handmade veggie burgers, portobello sandwiches and turkey cubans.

In addition to designing murals and mosaics for both indoor and outdoor spaces, David also creates portraits, landscapes and signage across Jacksonville. David’s previous work includes a Historic Springfield neighborhood series as well as a logging truck series inspired by his daily commute to Jacksonville.

“Living on Amelia Island and commuting to Jacksonville every day becomes a mundane, mind-numbing routine. The commute becomes a bigger headache because of Amelia Island's two paper mills and constant logging truck traffic. My logging truck series is simply an attempt to find peace and solitude with the everyday routine,” David explains.
