Spotlight on Local Nonprofits Making a Difference in Fernandina Beach

A Few Jacksonville Nonprofits We’d Like to Support

We at Timoti’s care a lot about how we can help out our community however we can. Today, we want to take a moment to showcase some of the real heroes of our community: some local nonprofit organizations that deserve all the help they can get. Consider making a difference; even just spreading the word can mean the world to some of the people they help.

Gratitude America Inc.

Our troops have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. When they return home, however, many of them fail to receive the special care they deserve for healing their physical and mental trauma. Gratitude America helps by providing critical service for service members and their loved ones through retreats. This aims to immerse them in a safe, therapeutic environment to help them make peace with themselves, as well as provide meaningful support from peers as they return to life as civilians. Gratitude America has so far helped over a thousand US Veterans in the Fernandina Beach region and strives to help countless more.

Florida Urgent Rescue Inc.

This is an organization that puts the wellbeing of displaced or disadvantaged pets first. Florida Urgent Rescue has helped out thousands of dogs and cats in the last decade, and takes in all breeds, ages, and conditions. Most of their donations are spent on veterinary care for their rescue animals. They also direct much of their effort towards rescue operations across the United States, such as saving animals from tornado and hurricane disaster areas in Kentucky. Additionally, they also offered international relief for pets in Turkey during recent catastrophic earthquakes, as well as displaced animals from the ongoing Ukrainian war. Adoption fees only make up a small amount of their operating funds, and they are always looking for supporters and volunteers.

North Florida Land Trust Inc.

One of the things we take great pride in, here at Timoti’s Seafood Shak, is our local fishing community and, by extent, the natural beauty of North Florida’s wildlife. The North Florida Land Trust helps preserve some of that through conservation and management of surrounding wetlands and forestry. They work with a number of agencies and property owners to ensure that the beauty of Northeastern Florida remains beautiful. This includes but is not limited to water quality improvement, flood and storm surge protection, and preservation of endangered species like the west indian manatee (an icon of Floridian wildlife)!

Hope Haven Association Inc.

Finally, we want to give a special commendation to Hope Haven for the support it offers to children with special needs. This includes (but is by no means limited to) tutoring, mental health counseling, day camps, and employment preparation for post-education. Hope Haven has provided assistance to Jacksonville families ever since 1926 – almost 100 years! Here’s to another 100!

an additional thank you to Fernadina beach

To all of the wonderful people in our community, we at Timoti’s want to extend a personal thank you. Fernadina Beach is home to so many people with generous hearts and the integrity we value most in this humble neck of the woods. To all of the above charities and organizations, as well as the countless others in Fernadina Beach and greater Jacksonville, thank you for all you’ve contributed; it’s an honor to be locals and neighbors to you all!
