Summer Art and Activities in Jacksonville Florida
With Summer just around the corner, Jacksonville’s the perfect city to spend summer break. But for those who want to take a break from the beach crowd (and the heat), it might be a fun change of pace to visit one of the many local museums! Here’s a few that we would love to personally recommend.
A Step Back in Time with Beaches Museum
From its beginnings as a resort for weary pioneers and fisherman alike, Beaches Museum is a wonderful spot right on the water that, nowadays, showcases much of the rich culture and art that’s emerged along the Florida Coastline. They also feature limited time exhibitions for local artists like Jenna Alexander through the “Salt Run and the Sea” Exhibition, available now through June 22nd. Beaches Museum has a plethora of upcoming events it hosts outside of just artwork, however. From concerts to boardwalk tours, Beaches Museum is a wonderful change of pace with plenty of permanent and seasonal exhibitions.

Art Galleries with Lessons and Summer Activities
Lastly, the Island Art Association is an indoor art center that offers many opportunities for visitors to look at, and even get in touch with their own art. The gallery showcases the works of nearly fifty local artists and cycles through new pieces every two months through its "Nouveau Art Show”. The center also offers art lessons for youth and adults alike through workshops during certain months of the year. Visiting the Island Art Association can be as casual or hands-on as you see fit for your next visit!
