Taste the Best for National Seafood Month
With fall approaching, Timoti’s is looking forward to National Seafood Month this October. We are excited to share not only our food with the community but also our excitement for National Seafood Month. Seafood is a cuisine we know best and love serving to our customers. From our seafood baskets, which come blackened, grilled, or fried, to our seafood tacos, sandwiches, and boxes, we offer a wide variety of flavors from the ocean, cooked in different ways to please every seafood lover. It’s a month to celebrate seafood and everything that makes it special.
History of National Seafood Month
National Seafood Month got its start in 1989, almost 36 years ago, and was created to draw attention to the economic prosperity the seafood industry brought to the United States. The hope was to educate the public about seafood and its role in daily life. Since then, the U.S. has become a world leader in sustainable practices for wild-caught and farmed seafood. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) helps make sure everyone follows regulations and maintains balance in our oceans. They also highlight the importance of aquaculture and its connection to both economic and environmental resiliency.
National Seafood Month is a time to think about responsible seafood consumption, sustainable fishing, and how local fisheries support coastal communities. Science plays a big role in the seafood we consume, and by following laws and checks, we can continue enjoying the coastal flavors of our oceans for years to come.
The Health Benefits of Seafood
How healthy is seafood? For National Seafood Month, it's important to share the many health benefits that seafood provides. Fish, for example, are a rich source of omega-3s, and eating seafood twice a week, or about 12 ounces, offers an excellent intake of omega-3s, which can improve heart, brain, eye, and joint function. Shrimp are a high source of iron and other essential minerals that support energy levels and overall wellness, all of which Timoti’s Seafood Shack has. Knowing the health benefits of seafood can lead to a beneficial diet filling your body with the positive essentials such as vitamins, zinc and iron.
Timoti’s Seafood Shack offers T’s Faves, balanced meals that let you choose shrimp, fish, chicken, tofu and even raw tuna over coconut rice. For variety, there are three different menu options: Rice, Baja, and Poke boxes, all providing a healthy choice with diversity in each flavor profile.
